3 Ways to Have a Beautiful Earth Day

Want to Feel Beautiful?

Give to those who are effectively healing the earth’s most afflicted.

Not only is Hope worldwide serving the impoverished and disaster stricken in Central America, Africa, India, and Haiti, they are a high value charity.  87% of your contributions go directly to program costs.  They have been applauded by Oprah, Nelson Mandela, the Clintons, and Presidents Bush and Carter, to name a few. Hope worldwide also works with teens all over the country to help build their interest in global community service!   Warning: You may not recognize your kid after this particular chapter of their endless summer.  I am personally involved with Hope’ and have volunteered my time to their excellent work.  Please donate and get to know them today!

Want To Look Beautiful?

One of the prettiest and possibly safest hair color treatments, I’ve tried, awaits you at the AVEDA Institute in Westwood, CA.  My motivation?  Protect my liver and body from seriously damaging toxins.  AVEDA helped me cover my gray without the full chemical cocktail that I can count on from conventional hair color brands.   Besides, must I look ancient when I can still be have luminous locks at fifty?  I recently visited the eco-friendly AVEDA Institute and got my three inches of ‘haunted mansion’ roots covered (stunningly) for $32.00!!! Wait, did I just say thirty-two dollars? Yes!  Also, the color never faded.  Want to learn more about AVEDA?  Here you go!

Want Your Taste Buds to Scream Beautiful?

Chocolate usually does it for me.  But, try my distinctive recipe for hot Mexican chocolate and not only will your palate want to purr, you may even feel smarter!  Why? Because we don’t use dairy.   Dairy milk delivers too much bacteria and inflammation for me.  I start with Blue Diamond Almond Breeze (unsweetened almond milk).

Recipe:  Heat 4 cups of Unsweetened Chocolate Almond Breeze in a stainless steel sauce pan (low flame) until hot (not boiling).  Use half a tablet (four sections) of Chocolate Ibarra.  Ralph’s carries it.  Crush the Ibarra chocolate by putting it into a ziplock baggy and hammer it down to crumbs. Pour all the crumbs into your hot Almond Breeze milk. Add a tablespoon of brown sugar and a level teaspoon of powdered cinnamon.  Reduce heat and stir your ingredients for a few minutes.  Pour your hot chocolate into a cup and enjoy with or without mini marshmallows or whip cream.  You might swoon!  Throw it in a thermos and take it to any evening outdoor activity (I love taking it to concerts) or sporting event.

Let’s rescue our earth and our children from toxins and greed.  Have a wonderful Earth Day!

Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.  So I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can.  And people should… enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God.  – Ecclesiastes 3:11-13 NLT

About Light Stream

Casandra Moreno Lombera is an author, blogger, and Emmy nominated television producer who grew up in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Denver communities. In junior high school, she promised her single mother that she would get straight A’s in order to graduate early and help her relocate to Aurora, Colorado. She did… and though women and Latinas were scarcely visible in television, she dreamed of a future in broadcast journalism. From an early age, Casandra wanted children and loved to write. She began her career in television (writing and reporting on camera) at the age of 18. She also began raising two very successful children as a single mom. Throughout her career, she became an award winning, television producer/program creator (receiving both the Imagen and Golden Eagle Awards); was executive producer of both public affairs and children’s programming at KWHY-TV, Channel 22; and worked on camera hosting public affairs talk shows for many years. More distinctive opportunities came her way, however her desire to write children’s books and to blaze new trails in the publishing world became irrepressible. Her dreams today focus on empowering youth, writing (particularly about God’s love for them), and raising money for the impoverished through organizations like Hope Worldwide https://www.hopeww.org/sslpage.aspx. Throughout her life, she has been passionate about hands-on giving to the community and has received many forms of appreciation (including a congressional commendation) for her efforts. She has served on several boards including Communications Bridge Institute, training disadvantaged youth in television production; St. Anne’s, building futures for at risk teens and unwed mothers; HOPE, Hispanas Organized for Political Equality; the American Diabetes Association fund raising committee; and the Consumer Advisory Committee for the California Contractors State Licensing Board. Casandra is also a recipient of La Opinion’s 2012 Mujeres Destacadas (Exceptional Women) Award. She is completely smitten with her husband, two children, and four grand babies who inspired Light Riders. Follow her @casandratweets and @Lightersbook on Twitter.
